All strays are brought to our facility through the White County Sheriff Department’s Animal Control Officer only. Upon arrival, the animals are scanned for microchips, photographed, briefly examined for major injuries, flea preventative is applied, and the animal is provided a place to stay safe while they wait for their owners. Photographs of the strays are immediately placed online, and owners are given 3 days to claim their animal. If after 3 days time, the animal is not claimed, it is temperament tested and screened for potentially fatal diseases. If all tests come back in good favor and the shelter has room, the animals are sent to Happy Tails Animal Care Center in hopes of finding a new home.
